Face Lift
A facelift procedure can rejuvenate the appearance of the face to create a smoother, younger appearance. It provides an overall lift to the lower third of your face by tightening loose skin in the neck, cheeks and jawline. Dr. Kim can eliminate the “turkey gobbler” look some people inherit as they age. The Atlanta Facelift can be accomplished using a variety of techniques depending on each individual patient’s needs. Some patients may opt to combine a Facelift with other procedures such as a browlift, eyelid lift, fat injection, or a laser treatment.
Ideal candidates are in their 40s, 50s, and 60s in good health, non-smokers, and have a realistic expectation for the procedure. However, patients who have lost a lot of weight may consider this facelift procedure as well. Smokers must refrain from smoking at least 4 weeks before and after the procedure to have optimal results.
Procedure
The facelift operation is usually performed under a local anesthesia with twilight sedation, making it a safer alternative to general anesthesia. Incisions are created within the hairline and along the natural contour of the ears, and sometimes under the chin. The skin and muscle tissues are then trimmed to tighten these areas.
Post Treatment
A dressing is tightly worn around the head and neck after surgery for the first 24 hours. Cold compresses are applied to the neck area to alleviate swelling for the first 48 hours. You return to the office the next day to have Dr. Kim examine the area. You continue to wear the bandage for the next 9 days as much as possible until they return to have the sutures removed. The nurses will provide you with specific post-operative care instructions prior to surgery. Bruising and swelling may last a couple of weeks as the wounds heal.
